Guest Blogger: The Other Side

The blogger that is normally in this space is the ying to my yang. I am what you might call plus-size (she is not, obvi). But I do like clothes just as she does. Liking clothes and being plus-size really don’t mix. I can still shop in non-plus size stores, but it is so hard to find cute clothes at the top-end of the sizes. Not cute tents, but cute clothes. They are either really boring, or blankets that do not flatter. This is part of the reason that I love shoes and purses so much, they always fit and you can always find really awesome ones.

It seems as though, when plus-size designers are making clothes, they think “Let’s find a way to make this plus-size woman look the plus-siziest she can.” Not fair. The clothing industry has done a much better job in the last 5 years of providing plus-size women with more options (sometimes at the detriment of petite women), but there is still not enough. I just want a fun Bermuda short. Or a pretty skirt (I like to show off my legs) that doesn’t make me look 5 sizes bigger. I am proud of who I am and what I look like, and as Stacy and Clinton say “You gotta fit the body you have now.” So I want the clothes I want. Now!

This is a guest post written by a childhood friend of mine.
